Argentina's Salta province pre-awards US$145mn road contract
Argentina's Salta province pre-awarded local joint venture Valle de Lerma a 163bn-peso (US$146mn) contract to build a 22km corridor.
Valle de Lerma originally submitted the corridor as a private initiative. Dubbed Lerma valley highway, it will link the municipalities of Cerrillos and El Carril, according to a provincial government press release.
The joint venture comprises Ingeniero Medina and Vicente Moncho Constructores.
Related works include a 12km rainwater drainage pipeline to prevent flooding, three bridges and seven intersections.
"This is the most important road project of our administration," governor Gustavo Sáenz said.
The government declared the initiative of public interest via decree in December, and a tender was launched in January, in which Valle de Lerma was the sole bidder.
