PRESS RELEASE from Grenergy
April 16, 2025
Madrid, April 16, 2025.—Grenergy has launched a reverse auction in Chile for the sale of 1.7 TWh/year of energy from various of the company's photovoltaic and battery storage plants in the country.
Through its Chilean marketing division, GR Power , this initiative is aimed at generators, marketers, and large consumers with energy demands in the coming years, offering an innovative and competitive energy purchasing and selling method.
The auction includes the injection of 1,400 GWh/year of stored energy in batteries during the nighttime period, in addition to 300 GWh of photovoltaic production, with delivery expected between the first half of 2026 and the first half of 2027.
This is the second time Grenergy has launched its own renewable energy auction. In fact, in March 2022, the company became the first clean energy producer in Latin America to hold an auction of this type. Thanks to this model, the company's reach is expanded to a greater number of generators, retailers, and other corporations interested in the energy transition.
The auction is being conducted through the local electricity marketplace Match Energía. The application period is now open and will run until May 6.
Chile, a strategic market for Grenergy
With over 12 years of presence in Chile, Grenergy has become the company with the largest number of renewable energy plants built in the country. It currently has a pipeline of 18.3 GWh of storage and 4.1 GW of solar.
Chile has been chosen to develop Oasis de Atacama, its flagship project and one of the largest battery systems in the world.
Grenergy's Chilean office, the largest after its headquarters in Spain, is the center of operations for Latin America, also managing its activities in Peru, Colombia, and Mexico.
