Peruvian company Monte Azul Centro (MAC) has proposed a modification to its Villa El Salvador fuel terminal project in Lima region.

The change envisions storage capacity of 1.1Mb spread across seven diesel tanks, four gasoline tanks and one tank each for biodiesel and ethanol, according to information submitted by MAC to the environmental certification service for sustainable investments (Senace).

Under a previous approval, the proposed capacity of the project, construction of which has yet to begin, was 509,512b of gasoline, diesel and ethanol, and 243,324b of LPG.

Other components include a buoy system off the coast and capable of receiving vessels up to 60,000DWT, along with associated underwater and underground piping.

The depot would be built in Villa El Salvador, 23km south of Lima and take 15 months to complete.

Last year, fuel sales in the country rose nearly 5% to 105Mb, information from the energy and mines ministry shows.
