By the end of 2024, 72.4% of fixed internet connections in Peru, that is, 2,946,326 connections, have contracted download speeds greater than or equal to 200 Mbps (megabits per second), more than double what was reported the previous year (1,174,384 connections), reported the Private Investment Supervision Agency in Telecommunications (OSIPTEL).

According to the information published in the PUNKU computer tool (https://punku.osiptel.gob.pe/), the range of contracted speeds greater than or equal to 200 Mbps, but less than 1000 Mbps, went from representing 32.55% of the total in 2023, to having 61.98% share at the end of 2024 (2,522,573 connections).

Meanwhile, contracted speeds greater than or equal to 1000 Mbps, which until last year constituted 0.62% of the total, closed 2024 representing 10.41% of total connections nationwide (423,753 connections).

"This growth in the range of contracted speeds is due to users' need for higher speeds to access streaming content, for example, as well as the emergence of new competitors in the market offering higher speeds thanks to the use of fiber optic technology," said Marco Vílchez, Director of Regulatory Policies and Competition at OSIPTEL.
