Description:
Operating since 1974, Brazil's São Paulo state metro authority CMSP is responsible for operating and carrying out expansion work on the local subway system. CMSP has 59 stations and four metro lines – No. 1 (Jabaquara-Tucuruvi), No. 2 (Sacomã-Vila Madalena), No. 3 (Corinthians-Itaquera and Palmeiras-Barra Funda) and No. 5 – with a total length of 66.9km. The company is currently developing metro line No. 6, which is scheduled to be up and running by 2020. Following a brief setback last year, construction of the CMSP line kicked off in 2015. It is being built by concessionaire Move São Paulo consortium, a local group comprising Odebrecht, Queiroz Galvão, UTC Participações and Fundo Eco Realty. The 15.9km No. 6 line, also called the orange line, will have 15 stations and run between the neighborhoods of Brasilândia and São Joaquim. It will also have 17 ventilation stops and one train yard. It will connect to four other metro lines: No. 7 and No. 8 at the Água Branca station, No. 4 at the Higienópolis/Mackenzie station, and No. 1 at the São Joaquim station.
